Thursday, we couldn't find a decent kebab for lunch and ended up at Kebab King - a chain restaurant. That afternoon, we walked to the Japanese Garden for some respite. It's well worth the 4 zł admission just to watch the fish and 100s of tadpoles. and they let us in for ½ price 'cause we're seniors. It's next to city hall and its impressive fountain display. Here it is
http://youtu.be/eChHUL7h0Cg. There was a huge thunderstorm in the distance heading our way and minutes after we jumped on the tram to go for dinner, the rain hit. By the time we got to the edge of the old town, it had decreased to a drizzle. We went back to Hubertus and had another decent dinner of
Żurek (7), Norwegian salmon (20), pork loin with mushrooms (15), potatoes (3 each) and salad (3 each), a ½ litre of beer for Clarisse (7) and a glass of red wine (7) for me. Both drinks were generously over the line.

Wrocław is a dump of a city. The stucco is falling off most of the
buildings, there's litter and dog shit everywhere, and the car drivers are obnoxious.
So much for my earlier comments about politeness and no car horns.
There are no litter bins anywhere for trash and very few public
washrooms. The pedestrian crossings are a joke. There are no buttons to
start with. The vehicle traffic gets to go for several minutes. When you
finally get the walk sign, you cannot get to the other side before it
turns red without a quick sprint the last ¼ of the way. Rob Ford would
love it. There is copious public drinking with beer bottles floating in
the waterways and broken glass everywhere. The last night in our hostel
was the worst. We couldn't leave the windows open as cigarette smoke
from people outside wafted in. The noise of drunken revellers culminated
in a fight that necessitated the intervention of police. In the morning,
there was broken glass and blood on the stairway of the hostel.
It's time to head for the hills - literally.
